Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.2.3 is available July 9, 2014

1) The following new features are available in this release

-  Mapping and DR (append) import now have an option to overwrite existing custom property values. This option is found on the appropriate import file selection screens of the import wizard and under Tools > Preferences > Other tab.

2) Repository Version

This version of TMM requires repository version 113. Users will have to migrate the repository when upgrading from any earlier version of TMM.

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.2.2 is available May 20, 2014

1) The following new features are available in this release:

- The tutorial document has received minor updates for changes in TMM 2.2 and to address FAQs about the tutorial.

- Minor updates to the Getting Started guide to improve usability.

- New backup scripts and instructions for use with Arcmain for Linux (distributed with Teradata Express for VMware).

- New Query Tool reports for ERwin release 9 (certified with 9.5).

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.2.1 is available April 22, 2014

1) The following bug was fixed in this release:

- Some users were not able to install TMM to the default folder location.

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.2.0 is available April 16, 2014

1) The following new features are available in this release

-  New Global Find and Replace function replaces Find Text function. Replace works on custom property columns. Find function enhanced to work more like standard spreadsheet find functions (user-defined selection areas, substring search term match, newline find/replace, etc.)

- Literals can now be placed in “regular” data structures, in addition to TMM-generated <Literal> structure.

- Custom property paste operation is much faster for large ranges (10 to 100x faster).

- Mapping directionality captured at mapping creation time. This is especially useful for map sets where origin and destination data representation are the same. The user can also change the directionality of selected mappings for “same-DR” mappings.

- Improved support for non-admin Windows users. Also added help topic for this case (Introduction to TMM > Special instructions for Windows non-admin users).

- Import of data elements and data structures now allow for import of literal elements/structures along with custom property values for them. The latest data structure import template is now version 5.1 to allow for import of <Literal> structure.

- The database name has been added to the repository migration warning.

- TMM no longer tries to find a database at 127.0.0.1 when no auto-open preference is set, as few Teradata consultants are using TMM with Win XP and local Teradata Express for Windows.

- TMM now reports error is user chooses an install path or runtime file folder path with too many characters (Windows limitation).

2) The following bugs are fixed in this release

- Under certain conditions, Smart Import results in “Unexpected Error...Only ET or Null statement is legal after DDL statement”.

- Under certain conditions, Smart Import results in “Unexpected unique secondary index violation” error.

- Under certain conditions, Import or Auto-Match  results in “Network or database disconnect error”.

- Smart import is not always recognizing valid user-defined column header names in mapping import file.

- Abort of Smart Import with duplicate data representation name deletes existing data representation.

-  Imported custom properties and/or map notes were sometimes not shown in map set window if the mapping already existed in the repository and the import file had a different origin-destination order than the repository mapping. Those “hidden” custom properties and map notes created with earlier versions of TMM will now be visible in the map set window.

- Map set window refresh was sometimes changing the window scroll position, even when there were no changes in the repository mappings. The top map set window row should now persist through a refresh (unless it has been deleted in the repository).

- Mapping import was not always recognizing a data structure named “<Literal>” with blank origin/destination type as a literal.

- DSW “Unmapped Elements” counter sometimes wrong if not all map sets in bottom box of Properties > Map Sets tab.

- MSW sort on data representation/structure/element custom property will lose sort criteria when reopening sort dialog.

- Re-sort of window not always working when only changing Num option or ascending/descending option.

- Delete row from Cross-Map Explorer not always working right.

- Import DR error checking is not catching invalid placeholder type codes.

3) Repository Version

-  This version of TMM requires repository version 111. Users will have to migrate the repository when upgrading from any earlier version of TMM.

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.1.7 is available Sept 24, 2013

1) The following new features are available in this release

-  Users can now change the My Documents\Teradata Mapping Manager runtime file folder location to a different local file system or a network file system path. See Tools > Preferences > Startup tab > Change button.

- Updated the 8.2 version of ERwin TMM reports to ignore hidden attributes/columns that are sometimes generated when adding a FK attribute to an entity. ERwin 7.3 queries cannot ignore these hidden attributes due to limitations in Erwin’s 7.3 metamodel.

2) Repository Version

This version of TMM requires repository version 93, which is compatible with TMM versions 2.1.5 thru 2.1.7 but you must migrate any repositories being used by TMM 2.1.4 or earlier.

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.1.6 is available July 22, 2013

1) The following bugs are fixed in this release

-  A Microsoft Windows bug is preventing TMM from properly reading repository migration scripts if language is set for Chinese.

- Map Report column order and width is not always persistent.

- Made several changes to work better in virtual environments and/or when admin installs TMM but another Windows user runs TMM.

- User cannot create a repository if using ldap and multi-level database role assignments.

2) Note: This will not be fixed until a future release, but here is a new FAQ/workaround:

-  The map set window does not always return to the same location after a window refresh. Here is a workaround:

Prior to pressing the window refresh button, click a cell in the top row of the visible window to select that cell (or you click on the row# for that row to select the entire row). Most of the time, the refresh operation will leave the window with that selected cell/row at the top. There is a another bug that sometimes moves the visible window position somewhere else. When that happens, press the “scroll up one row” button at the bottom of the MSW (button text = “<<”). This should move the previously selected row into the visible window at the second row from the top.

3) Repository Version

This version of TMM requires repository version 93, which is compatible with TMM 2.1.5 and 2.1.6 but you must migrate any repositories being used by TMM 2.1.4 or earlier.

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.1.5 is available May 9, 2013

1) The following new features are available in this release

-  Modified Appendix A of Getting Started Guide to point to new TD Express User Guide and (unfortunately) to get rid of instructions for using VMware’s vmnetcfg.exe app to forward local host port as this application appears to be no longer available from VMware.

2) The following bugs were fixed in this release

- “USI Uniqueness error” sometimes occurs when importing DR element file with more than one literal element.

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.1.4 is available February 25, 2013

1) The following new features are available in this release

-  Cross-mapping is now map group aware. Options added to match intermediate mappings by map group, save cross-mappings with intermediate map group name, individual map group filters on intermediate mappings.

2) The following bugs were fixed in this release

- “USI Uniqueness error” in some rare cases when a user created a mapping without map note dialog (either using preference to skip that dialog or using Save Without Map Notes from Auto-Match or Cross-Map result windows. Bug introduced in TMM 2.1.1.

- Log Files were not being properly created for TMM 2.1.3.

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.1.3 is available January 17, 2013

  • Repository migration could fail with certain TD 14.0 default settings.
  • TMM startup sometimes failed due to problem with writing  LogFiles
  • Find operation result should always scroll the complete row into the visible grid window.
  • Default map group name was not being stored with IP Address and database name, which could cause minor problems if you work from more than one repository database.
  • In-grid edit attempt of DR-related CP column in an MSW should open read-only dialog instead of showing NULL error.
  • Very long DR name causes problem using DR editor.
  • Under certain conditions, TMM start menu options were not being deleted on TMM uninstall.
  • Under certain conditions, the post-mapping MSW window was not showing (one of) the newly created mappings selected in the visible window.

Teradata Mapping Manager release 2.0.3 is available April 24, 2012

1) The following new features are in this release

  • The TMM install image will now contain its own copy of Java Runtime Environment, to eliminate problems with wrong or missing JRE. This will not affect any installed JRE versions on your PC and those installed JRE versions will not affect TMM.
  •  LogFiles and TMM-ERwin Report folders have been moved from under Program Files path to My Documents\Teradata Mapping Manager folder, to improve compatibility with Windows 7 security.

1) The following new features are in this release

  • TMM will detect 64-bit JRE on startup and provide a specific error message reporting this with workaround.

2) The following bugs were fixed in this release:

  • Repository database users who were granted rights via role assignment were not being recognized by TMM as having sufficient rights to access the repository.
  • Import-relate DR with copy mappings option is not working right if origin and destination DR is the same DR.

  • Added prompt (email hyperlink) to request user feedback, to aid in continued funding approval (can be ignored/disabled).
  • Replaced references to “data element mappings” with “mappings” or “metadata object mappings” as we now support mappings to many object types other than just data elements (e.g. data structures, subject areas, etc.). Mapping import template updated to 4.1 for this reason, although no need to convert existing import files.
  • User-defined non-custom property column header names are ignored (used to be an error) in data structure to subject area import file (if preference is selected to allow import of user-defined headers and if first header row has not been deleted).

 2) The following bugs were fixed in this release:

  • TMM is not compatible with JRE (java runtime environment) “7” (version 1.7).
  • Mapping a DR to itself sometimes causes MSW refresh to take a very long time.

  • Error file pathnames not being shown on import complete dialog if user selects “abort import” option after import error is reported.
  • “Hide unmapped” and “hide mapped data elements” options not working properly for WDS shown in tree view.
  • Import DR is not always clearly reporting the exact error condition when import template has invalid values in header.
  • Under certain circumstances, WDS-> Properties-> Map Set tab is losing user changes after closing and reopening TMM.
  • Error message is not clear when maximum Teradata query row size has been exceeded due to too many wide columns in a DSW, MSW or map report window.
  • Map Group Editor is not always updating map group drop-down lists right after creating a new one.
  • MSW is losing some user-defined columns when switching origin and destination of MSW.

  • Nothing happens if I try to launch second instance of TMM (2.0.1 will report error if you attempt this).
  • Certain special characters in data structure/element names are causing Create Mapping and Map Notes dialog to show incomplete information in top box.
  • DR Editor is switching tabs after creating new DR, DS or DE.
  • CTRL+Click does not work in Short List Mapping dialog.

  • If a user imports a DR with replace-delete option, and the import files have an error in them, and if the user selects abort, then the existing DR file may be deleted. We have removed the delete DR option when import-replacing a DR. It is simple to manually delete the old DR after a non-error import of a new replacement DR, just use the DR Editor to delete it.
  • If a user creates a very large mapping report (30K+ rows or so), TMM can encounter an out-of-memory condition that causes a hang situation.

  • Users will not be able to migrate a repository (or create a repository in an existing repository) if another user is connected to the database (even if other user is SQL Assistant or another application)
  • Users will not be allowed to connect to a new version of a repository without upgrading their copy of TMM first.
  • Changed grid filter menu option names and improved messages to make filters easier to learn
  • Added “map and gap” drop-down option selection to map set window, above grid.
  • You can now right click anywhere in task pane windows to open context sensitive menus
  • Added some menu options to right-click menus
  • Added Sort and Find to Edit menu, improved messages when user selection is not right for Find
  • Working data set and map set default names changed to remove repository unique IDs from name
  • Changed M? column name to “# Mappings” and changed ‘N’ value to ‘0’.
  • TMM will attempt to find local repositories when user has no auto-connection preference set.
  • Several changes to import wizard to improve usability
  • Added tool-tips to DSW/MSW Properties-> Columns labels
  • Default width on new DSWs/MSWs is now wider.
  • DSWs now enforce required columns (metadata object name OR DS + DE name)

2) The following bugs were fixed in this release:

  • M?/# Mappings counter is not always right when selected map sets being ignored
  • Several dialogs have incorrect help topic linked to help button
  • Users are no longer allowed to configure DSW/MSW without mandatory columns.
  • Right-click menu now works on top of grid column headers.
  • Project editor is not updating modified timestamp or username
  • Added code workaround for JDBC error that resulted in “missing column” error message.

  • Grid column reordering was sometimes being reset by other operations.
  • Certain custom property names were causing NULL error.
